Fundamentally Sound:

A String Curriculum Centering Black Music

Students can expect to learn the fundamentals of string technique using Black music like soul, gospel, classical, jazz and negro spirituals.

Some important aspects of this curriculum include call and response (singing and playing), group singing, individual singing, historical references, critical thinking prompts and affirmations.

Why Fundamentally Sound?

Changing the narrative in classical music is the responsibility of everyone. We need to provide accurate accounts of those who write and participate in classical music. These accounts increase the visibility of people who would normally be left out of the narrative and includes the most marginalized in our profession. This should matter to everyone.
